What can Psychotherapy Offer?
Emotions, relationships and the impact of what has happened in the past may seem confusing and overwhelming at times. Psychotherapy can offer a place to explore emotions and experiences, and gain a greater awareness and understanding of oneself and relationships with others.
Psychotherapy offers a safe place to learn about our experience of ourselves. In our growth towards wholeness we may find meaning and understanding in our existence.
“Knowledge of one’s own deep nature is also simultaneously knowledge of human nature in general” Maslow, 1971
Why use the Arts?
Using various art forms such as painting, poetry, puppetry, music, clay and movement, may provide further dimensions to the possibilities of psychotherapy. An image may communicate many different meanings, perceptions and feelings at once. Creativity may be a powerful means of understanding and giving meaning to our experience. Thus we may deepen awareness and choice in our lives.
“It seems likely that when we create something ourselves … we are attempting to reorganise our own inner experience” Storr, 1972.
No experience of using the Arts is necessary.
