I enjoy my work and giving the best treatments I can and seeing people leave feeling blissful, happy, in less pain, rejuvenated and good about life.
Aromatherapy Massage
Essential oils are blended with a warm base oil and applied to the body through massage. This massage is medium pressure with lots of flowing movements. Combined with deeper work to release tighter muscles. Essential oils are known for their therapeutic properties and this treatment combines the effects of the essential oils with the massage to release muscular tension and bring you to a better place of being.
Aromatherapeutic Facial
This is a deeply relaxing treatment, that also works on releasing the muscles of the neck, shoulders, head and scalp. This treatment involves massage to the face, cleansing using Dr Hauchka products, toning with floral toning waters, a mineral clay mask that helps draw out impurities, soften the skin and close the pores. An oil based or Dr Hauchka moisturiser is used in this treatment, along with essential oils.
No Hands massage
The No Hands massage is a new massage developed by Gerry Pyves who has over 20 years of clinical bodywork experience. Contact is made with the hands, but any contact that applies pressure is mainly made with the soft underside of the forearm. Each movement of this massage is made using the body weight of the Practitioner.
The treatment is given with sensitivity and by listening to the client’s body, working with the tension of the body and allowing for its release in stages. This treatment is powerful, yet gentle. It can help structural release in the body and bring you to a calmer, more joyful or invigorated way of being.
Japanese Hot Stone massage
A massage treatment that uses the soothing effects of the hot stones to melt away tension in the muscles. Combined with hands on massage and No Hands massage with oils, deep and releasing massage and the use of the hot stones. This can be a full body massage or only back, neck and shoulders.
Indian Head massage
During this treatment the client stays clothed and seated in a chair the upper back, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, forehead, face and scalp are worked on. This treatment can help release tension in the shoulders, neck and head, helping to relieve tension headaches and migraines.
Reflexology
This treatment involves massage to the feet, ankles & calves. It is based on a traditional technique that uses pressure points on the feet that relate to other areas of the body. This can help rebalance the body’s energy systems and help release tension in the feet and the body.
Pregnancy Massage
This is a massage that can be given after the first 3 months of pregnancy. The client is supported by pillows during the treatment and the massage can help release tension in the back, neck, arms, legs, feet, head and face. (*Indian head massage is another treatment that women further on in their pregnancy can have as they remain clothed and seated upright in a chair)
More Treatments
I can combine some of these treatments in a one hour or one and half hour treatment.
For example
a Japanese Hot Stone massage using Aromatherapy essential oils, body massage, scalp, neck, shoulders and face massage (90 mins treatment). This is a deep tissue massage combining massage with the use of the hot stones, to help get deeper into the muscles and melt away tension.

You may not know exactly what is wrong; some people are simply aware that they are dissatisfied or unhappy.

If you would like to come along for an introductory meeting we will discuss:

Lizzie Austin
RS Hom MAR
Classical Homeopath registered with the Society of Homeopaths, Reflexologist and Second Degree Reiki Practitioner.
Training and Experience
Lizzie has been practising Homeopathy in Oxford for over 20 years. After an early career in nursing, she began her study of Homeopathy at the College of Homeopathy in London, and then at the School of Homeopathy in Devon; registering with the Society of Homeopaths in 1990. Lizzie then attended a post-graduate course with Jeremy Sherr's Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies, and also trained in transpersonal perspectives and counselling skills. In recent years she has travelled to India for seminars with the Bombay School of Homeopaths and is particularly inspired by the depth of understanding gained by using their method of classical homeopathy.
Lizzie is also a qualified Reflexologist and member of the Association of Reflexologists. She trained at the London School of Reflexology under the tuition of Louise Keet PGCE, MAR. She also trained in Facial Reflexology, and offers a delightful facial treatment that will improve skin tone; and help the face feel and look smoother and younger with a healthy glow.
Lizzie trained in Reiki healing with Ama Boisard, a Reiki Master/teacher and member of the UK Reiki Foundation; and qualified as a Reiki 2 practitioner in 2011.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient therapy based on the principle that different parts of the body are reflected in the feet and/or hands.
Reflexology helps to promote wellbeing and health by the application of gentle pressure or massage to different areas on the feet. It is also a deeply relaxing treatment.
By using gentle pressure on specific areas of the feet, Lizzie’s aim is to stimulate and thus improve circulation; and to restore balance and healthy functioning within the body.
The treatment offers you a deeply relaxing and nurturing expereince that will aim to boost the immune system, relieve stress and tension and improve your mood and general wellbeing.
Facial reflexology
Facial Reflexology works on the same principles as foot Reflexology, and the treatment is based on the theory that different areas on the face correspond to areas within the body. The aim of foot and facial Reflexology is to promote healing and help balance the whole body so that it can function at an optimal level. Facial Reflexology is such an effective treatment due to the closeness of the face to the brain and cranial nerves, and this will also have an effect on all body systems.
In addition to stimulating the body’s healing energy, this therapy can help people feel relaxed; and both feel and look younger and more radiant.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a gentle and holistic system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body towards self-healing. Homeopaths view the symptoms of disease as expressions of disharmony within the whole person; and homeopathic remedies are used to gently stimulate the immune system to heal the body and return it to a greater level of health and wellbeing.
People often seek help from homeopathy and other complementary therapies as a form of prevention, as well as for existing conditions that have been diagnosed by their medical practitioner.
Lizzie's homeopathic practice over the last few years has seen individuals presenting with conditions such as digestive and respiratory complaints, skin or urinary problems, women's health issues, children's illnesses, and sleep and emotional imbalances, among many others.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Energy', an energy which is all around us. It is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui.
It is a system of healing and self-healing that anyone can access. Being focussed on the whole person, and the person's innate ability to heal itself, it will complement any treatment you are having.
Reiki is a safe, gentle and non-intrusive hands-on healing technique which induces relaxation and stress reduction. It also promotes healing. Today, Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.

Jay Aggett
While she had qualified as a masseuse in 1987, Jay came to holistic therapy by chance in 1997 with Reiki, and felt it was so profound that she progressed to Reiki Master by 2000. Again by chance, she began her journey with crystals, obtaining her Diploma with the International College of Crystal Healing in 2002. She also runs an ACHO accredited school to teach both therapies. Having experienced Cranio Sacral Therapy, she was so impressed she wanted to be able to practise it herself, and qualified in 2012 from the College of Cranio Sacral Therapy.

Jay is in awe of how vibrational healing can reach the parts of our system that are difficult to access and how it focuses on reaching the causes of problems and not just the symptoms. For her, the bottom line is that our bodies and energy fields hold on to everything that happens to us, and sometimes find it difficult to let go of the impacts those things may have. Over time, especially if we suffer repeated trauma, these areas become more blocked and heavy and often manifest later in a negative way, for instance anger, phobias, mental or physical health issues and addictions.
In her years of practice Jay has seen clients with a wide variety of conditions, including depression, PTSD, strokes, heart conditions, MS, psoriasis and arthritis, to name but a few. She finds it both fascinating and uplifting to see and hear about changes in her clients, sometimes after only a session or two.
Both Reiki and Cranio Sacral Therapy are given using a hands-on approach; however they can be given with the hands off the body if the client needs them to be.
Reiki
Reiki translates as ‘universal energy’. It works at the deepest level, by flowing through the hands of the practitioner and into the energetic field of the recipient. There, it is taken wherever and however it is needed most, finding tension, blockages of energy and areas where dis-ease is held and working to bring about harmony to the person receiving it.
Crystal Therapy
Crystals hold vibrational frequencies that resonate with our own and may help us to find a balance in our lives. By tuning in to the client, Jay finds out what their system needs most and then gets a feel for which crystals will best work at that time. In this way, the client receives only the treatment that is most appropriate for them at that moment. Crystals are then placed on or around the body and monitored throughout ensuring maximum safety and comfort for her client.
Cranio Sacral Therapy
CST is a gentle, non-invasive practice that reaches deep within the body, connecting with every part of us including bones, fascia, organs and fluids. It is based upon the motion and rhythms of the cerebro-spinal fluid that surround the brain and spine yet influence the whole body’s system, including the central nervous system.
Connections can be made to the subtlest sensations that may hold the keys to many things, such as tension, blockages, illness, behavioural or addictive patterns and old injuries. CST gives the body the freedom to respond and heal in the way it wants to. It is a very rewarding therapy, and the gentler the treatment the more powerful it seems to be. Many people find themselves drawn to CST when their issues haven’t been resolved through other means.
Massage
Jay uses her elbows as well as her hands to give a deeper massage that gets into the knots and tension to make you feel lighter, more relaxed and yet more energised. If you want a more pampering treatment, do let her know!
Fees
Prices are based on treatments of clients 16 years and over. Children under 16 will be treated at half-price, however treatments will usually be shorter.

What can Psychotherapy Offer?
Emotions, relationships and the impact of what has happened in the past may seem confusing and overwhelming at times. Psychotherapy can offer a place to explore emotions and experiences, and gain a greater awareness and understanding of oneself and relationships with others.
Psychotherapy offers a safe place to learn about our experience of ourselves. In our growth towards wholeness we may find meaning and understanding in our existence.
"Knowledge of one's own deep nature is also simultaneously knowledge of human nature in general" Maslow, 1971
Why use the Arts?
Using various art forms such as painting, poetry, puppetry, music, clay and movement, may provide further dimensions to the possibilities of psychotherapy. An image may communicate many different meanings, perceptions and feelings at once. Creativity may be a powerful means of understanding and giving meaning to our experience. Thus we may deepen awareness and choice in our lives.
"It seems likely that when we create something ourselves … we are attempting to reorganise our own inner experience" Storr, 1972.
No experience of using the Arts is necessary.
About Helen
Helen works with individuals in an integrative way, drawing on a range of theories, such as Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Jungian Psychology and Object Relations Theory. She works on the relationship with art image and metaphor. Helen has experience of working with individuals experiencing conflicts, addiction, confusion and loss and yearning.

WHAT IS EXISTENTIAL PSYCHOTHERAPY?
A form of therapy based on ideas from existential philosophy.
Clients have the opportunity/possibility of clarifying, reflecting upon and understanding their existence. This can involved exploring relationships and decision-making. The aim of the therapy is to bring into greater focus how you are currently living and then consider possible adjustments that seem appropriate to you.
Existential therapy can focus on one particular aspect of your life and take only a few sessions. Alternately, it can be a more open-ended exploration and take as many sessions as you the client feel to be appropriate.
Sessions last for 50 minutes, usually once a week, and cost £50 each.
Often it is useful to have an introductory session to discuss the possibilities and discover if existential therapy with George is what you are looking for.

INTRODUCING TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has existed for more than 4,000 years, and became an established medical discipline around 2,500 years ago. Further development resulted in various specialisations, for example: dermatology, gynaecology and paediatrics. TCM training in China is a five year full-time university course and is regarded as an orthodox medicine there. It is included as an integral part of national health care system.
Health and disease, in TCM terms, are explained according to the concepts of "Yin-Yang" and "The Five Elements". The principle of the treatment is based on the same concepts. The aim is not only to give short-term relief to various ailments, but also to provide long term benefits to the general health after treatment ceases.
Clinical trials in recent years have confirmed that this approach is effective in treating many conditions, for example: heart disorders, and disorders of the pulmonary, digestive and urinary systems. The efficacy of TCM has also been proven in a number of gynaecological, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Recent scientific research carried out in this country has shown that Chinese herbal medicine is very effective in treating adult and childhood eczema. Importantly, the herbal mixtures used for treatment do not contain any form of steroids.
TCM does not claim to cure all diseases. Indeed, if any ailment is allowed to progress damage to the entire body could be so severe that prognosis would be poor even with treatment. For this reason TCM practitioners advocate prevention and early treatment.
Dr. Yang Li MMed(China), MRCP, MATCM
(Honorary Professor, China Academy of TCM, Beijing, China)
Dr. Y. Li has been a senior TCM clinician for fifteen years at the Chinese Academy of TCM, Beijing, China, which is one of the most prestigious teaching and research institutes of TCM in China, and was a senior lecturer at the International Acupuncture Training Centre, Beijing, China, sponsored by the World Health Organization before coming to the U.K. in 1991.

He then started his postgraduate training at the Chinese Academy of TCM in Beijing, and was among the first group of doctors to be bestowed a Master's degree in Medicine. For the next ten years he was a senior clinician in the Chinese Academy of TCM as well as a senior lecturer at the International Acupuncture Training Centre in Beijing, China.
Dr. Li has conducted lecture tours in Belgium and Holland, and has written several articles and books. He is one of the authors of "Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion" which is the textbook used by the entire International Acupuncture Training Centre in China.

What is a Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychologists are trained to doctoral level in applied psychology. I specialise in working with adults who wish to change. I have treated all types of emotional difficulties over the last 20 years.
Change is organic and so there is always a wider consequence in terms of how our actions affect others. Clinical Psychologists are trained to work with the individual, the group and the system.
Examples of individual work include using CBT to help someone recognise and overcome panic attacks. A group approach could be to work with a staff team and assist them in recognising their resources using psycho-education about stress. A systemic intervention may involve looking at how organisations respond to change and working with managers to reduce risks of staff burnout and sickness absence.
What will we do in individual sessions?
I tend to work with people in a goal-orientated, time-limited style; guided by the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). I am also trained in interpersonal therapy (IPT) which can be a helpful approach when working with depression and social/communication issues. We can develop solution-focused strategies for the future as well as deal with your current challenges.
Who is suitable?
In principle, anyone can be referred for assessment/signposting. People I have worked with in the past have experienced:
What to do next?
The first step is to meet and see how you and I can work together. My contact details are below. It would help us focus if you could bring ideas about what helps you to cope to the 1st session.
NB Clinical Psychologists do not prescribe medication but can liaise with other prescribing doctors if appropriate.

I am particularly interested in workplace wellbeing. I have provided training on how to manage stress to organisations and worked with Occupational Health staff regarding the implementation of 'Healthy Work' policies. I am drawn to models of human development which focus on strengths/competencies. I see self-care as an intrinsic part of growth and I am inspired by the psychology of coping and resilience. I am fascinated by people's own theories of change and enjoy seeing their ideas and mine combine to make real life challenges manageable.

I am an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP Acc), a Graduate member of the British Psychological Society (MBPSs), and a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a psychological approach which has shown to be effective for a wide range of problems. Client and Therapist develop a shared view of the individual's problems and they can then identify personalised, time-limited therapy goals and strategies to treat the problem.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a technique which involves practices that can help break cycles of anxiety, stress and depression.
Other areas of experience have included Family Mediation, mediating separating couples, and families with communication difficulties, Children’s Support Worker and Youth Counsellor.
Qualifications
I studied Psychology at Reading University, and then went on to complete a Diploma in Counselling with CSCT at Westminster College in Oxford. I then specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the Centre for Stress Management in London, Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and Reading University.
I endeavour to keep my knowledge and skills up to date by attending training on a regular basis. In 2010, I passed with Merit a Post Graduate Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapies at Reading University, and in 2014 I completed Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Training at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

The Five Element System of Acupuncture
Claudia Smith was trained in the Five Element System of Acupuncture. This system is based on the idea that all our symptoms, however physical, will usually come from an emotional cause.
The five emotions which can cause disease are anger, grief, lack of joy, fear, worry, or a combination of all of them. Her job is to take an initial diagnosis which will take 1½ hours, during which time a very detailed case history will be taken. Also, a short physical examination of the pulses, the back and the abdomen will be undertaken.
Claudia predominantly uses the Five Element System but will also give life-style advice. Many people come to her just because they don't have any energy or they don't feel right in themselves. Putting those meridians back into balance will usually improve the person's feeling of wellbeing.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural process which generates a wonderful feeling of calm and well-being as well as a state of heightened awareness. During this time it is possible to harness the power of the subconscious mind in order to help many symptoms and conditions. People are totally in control of their own mind and can converse normally.
Arne offers two forms of hypnotherapy
Suggestion Therapy
Otherwise known as clinical hypnotherapy, this is a very effective method of treating simpler problems using the power of the subconscious to change habits and to bring about a therapeutic resolution. Help with smoking (95% success rate), overeating, nail biting, children's problems, exam nerves, lack of confidence - all these conditions can be successfully treated with suggestion therapy.
Hypnoanalysis
Arne is a specialist in this unique form of therapy, practised only by those trained by the Hypnotherapy Control Board. Hypnoanalysis is a powerful, fast-track way of treating symptoms which would, by any other forms of analysis, take years to resolve.
Arne believes that every problem has its own solution. He also believes that each and every symptom must have a cause. Over the course of 7 or 8 sessions, sometimes less, the revealing of this cause through hypnoanalysis will subsequently resolve the symptoms completely. Conditions which lend themselves to this type of therapy include;
Anxiety, nervous disorders, allergies, phobias of all kinds, sexual problems, IBS, stress, insomnia, emotional problems and many more.
What is Life Coaching?
A life coach is an individual who supports and encourages people to fulfil their potential and really make the most of their life. A life coach can help to empower individuals to take control of their life, or certain areas of their life, for example, their career, confidence/self belief, finances, health, relationships, spirituality and/or work/life balance.
It can be easy to lose direction in our lives and life coaching aims to explore ways to enhance the skills, qualities and creativity we already have but may not be making the most of. Life coaching often involves exploring our attitudes, beliefs and values, discussing our aims in life and setting appropriate goals to help us to reach them. Unlike trying to achieve goals on our own, having a life coach should help to keep us committed, motivated and focussed. Just like sports men and women have their own coach, a life coach helps us to become the best we can be in our own lives.
What is NLP?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) explores the relationship between how we think, how we communicate and our patterns of behaviour. We all have thoughts, reactions and behaviour patterns that are automatically 'programmed' into our minds; along with attitudes, beliefs and habits that can sometimes cause us unnecessary pain, and prevent us from achieving our goals.
NLP practitioners work with the conscious and unconscious mind to replace negative patterns of behaviour and thinking with more positive ones. Similar to a life coach, an NLP practitioner supports and encourages individuals to fulfil their potential and empowers them to take control of their life or certain areas of their life.
The terms Life Coach and NLP Practitioner are often used interchangeably, as both address an individual's beliefs, emotions, values, thoughts and behaviours. The main differences between the two is that life coaches only work with the conscious mind through conversation and goal setting, whereas NLP practitioners also work with the unconscious mind to change negative patterns of thinking and behaviour. NLP practitioners may also want to explore the past, whereas life coaches will focus more on the present and the future.

Arne believes that every problem has its own solution. He also believes that each and every symptom must have a cause. Over the course of 7 or 8 sessions, sometimes less, the revealing of this cause through hypnoanalysis will subsequently resolve the symptoms completely. Conditions which lend themselves to this type of therapy include;

Motivational hypnotherapy
Motivational hypnotherapy is effective if you want to make a change or achieve a goal. For example: losing and maintaining weight, enhancing performance (sports, arts, academic/learning) and career or life goals.
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is effective if you want to resolve maladapted thoughts and/or behaviours. For example: fears and phobias, anxiety and panic attacks, sleep problems, confidence issues and self-limiting beliefs. This form of therapy utilises theories from both cognitive and behavioural psychology.
Analytic hypnotherapy
Analytic hypnotherapy is effective if you are unsure why you have a particular problem or are struggling to achieve a particular goal. For example, repeated failures to lose weight or recurring patterns in relationships. This form of therapy utilises theories from a number of schools of psychological thought and seeks to bring understanding of what has led to the current situation.
Integrative hypno-psychotherapy
Integrative hypno-psychotherapy is an effective whole person approach to overcoming difficulties and achieving a goal. For example, pain management, stress related physical illness, anxiety and panic attacks, fertility, weight management, overcoming addictions or relationship issues. This form of therapy brings together theories from a number of schools of psychological thought and views you holistically in relation to and in the context of your environment. This means that your individual physical symptoms, patterns of thought and behaviour, past experiences and current circumstances are recognised in supporting you to overcome your difficulties and reach your personal goals. The natural state of hypnosis is used to enhance psychotherapeutic processes.
Fertile Body Method
The Fertile Body Method is a holistic mind body approach to health and fertility. The natural state of hypnosis is utilized as a therapeutic tool to facilitate inner change and restore balance. By using the power of your mind and utilizing the mind-body connection, the Fertile Body Method can support you to:
• Achieve your optimal fertile state - giving you the very best chance of conceiving whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through IVF/ART
• Reduce the negative effects of infertility on your life
